A Law Firm Walking Injured Workers Through The Workers’ Compensation Claims Process

At Cullen Legal in Bristol, we have a thorough understanding of workers’ compensation. We know the potential pitfalls that can cause a claim delay or claim denial. We guide injured workers in Bucks County through the complex claims process, ensuring they are aware of and understand which deadlines they and the insurance company must meet for benefits to be granted or appeals to be filed.

What To Know About Pursuing A Claim

The key to getting your workers’ compensation benefits is prompt reporting of your work injury to your supervisor. If your supervisor or other manager is not available, leave a message on his or her voicemail. Make sure you explain exactly how you injured yourself, as well as when and where the injury took place. If you fail to notify your employer, it can result in the delay or denial of workers’ comp benefits.

Once you have lost a day, shift or turn of work, your employer is required to report your injury to the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation by filing a First Report of Injury (FROI) form. If you are the injured worker, make sure you obtain a copy of the incident report for your files. After the FROI, it gets more complicated. The process is so detailed, in fact, that the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has a section on its website that is dedicated to helping people fill out the forms and follow the flow of the claims process.

An assembly line worker with a repetitive stress injury was unsuccessful litigating a denied workers’ compensation claim on her own. The judge advised her to hire an attorney. Our firm revived her claim and got everything back on track.
